The Aare Asojuoba of Ibadanland, Dr. Abisoye Fagade, heartily congratulates His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, on his historic ascension as the Alaafin of Oyo. His emergence marks a significant moment in Yoruba history—signaling continuity, renewed purpose, and a future anchored in cultural pride and visionary leadership.
As a proud son of Ibadanland and custodian of traditional values, I pray that the reign of Oba Owoade I ushers in an era of peace, unity, and remarkable progress across Oyo Kingdom and all of Yorubaland. May his time on the throne strengthen our cultural bonds, promote development, and deepen the legacy of the Alaafin institution.
In the same spirit of heritage and pride, I celebrate the successful conclusion of Lisabi Day 2025, hosted by the Egba people of Ogun State. This timeless festival remains a powerful reminder of our collective identity, courage, and communal strength. It continues to serve as a vibrant vehicle for promoting unity, tourism, and cultural excellence.
Both events—the installation of the new Alaafin and the Lisabi Day celebration—beautifully align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. That agenda champions the revival of Nigeria’s cultural and creative economy as a strategic tool for national transformation and youth empowerment.
As the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), I reaffirm our unwavering dedication to supporting such cultural milestones. NIHOTOUR remains committed to training and regulating competent personnel and practitioners in the hospitality, travel, and tourism sectors—ensuring that our cultural heritage becomes a wellspring for sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Let us continue to honor our roots, celebrate our triumphs, and build a united and thriving future through the power of tradition.
Signed:
Aare (Dr) Abisoye Fagade, FIMC
