The Elegushi of Ikate kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, has again restated that he will be delighted to have a thorough investigation carried out to unravel the mystery surrounding the untimely death of popular Afro-pop star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, AKA Mohbad.
Speaking through his lawyer, Adepeju Omotayo at the continuation of the trial of two suspects, James Adeshola and Awiye Azeez, the traditional ruler said his claims over the duo is on the unwarranted cyber bullying, defamation and character assassination he suffered in their hands, following the death of the musician.
Barrister Omotayo said, “the revered traditional ruler is very clear on his position on this matter. He has continued to admonish all those seeking justice to do so responsibly and in accordance with the law. He is not standing in the way of justice but will not allow anyone no matter their status or position in the society to tarnish his name and reputation for whatever gains.
Oba Elegushi added that while he has never met or interacted with the late Mohbad, his wife or any member of his family, he is also concerned as a father, leader and traditional ruler in ensuring that the circumstances leading to his death is unravelled and anyone found culpable made to face the full wrath of the law.
“His Majesty is also interested in seeing that the circumstances leading to the death of this young man are unravelled. This was emphatically made known even to Mohbad’s father when we met him and encouraged him not to relent in his efforts in asking about what led to the unfortunate and painful death of his son. However, this must be done within the ambit of the law.” Omotayo added.
The continuation of trial of the two accused persons at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, was truncated again at the instance of the accused persons. The case is further adjourned to July 5, 2024, for continuation of trial.
