If you describe Barrister Morayo Lebi as the dark horse candidate in the race to the Alagbaka’s House, you are correct.Barrister Lebi is the game changer in this governorship race, trust me.
Though, he was a Commissioner in Ajasin’s cabinet, Baba Adebayo Adefarati was a dark horse in the race in 1998. I was an undergraduate then in Ondo State Polytechnics, (now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic), Owo during the campaign. Baba branched our school to solicit for our votes. After his speech, I stood up to ask him a question, if the Military boys in power were actually sincere in handing over to the civilian government considering what they did to Abiola…..Baba Adefarati eventually won the election.
Defeating an incumbent governor wasn’t popular in 2003 when Dr Olusegun Agagu defeated Baba Adefarati. It was totally a disruption for Dr Olusegun Mimiko to defeat a performing Dr Olusegun Agagu with his rag- tag ” Labour Party “!
